Lifted Music Festival & Upcoming Single

Teag & PK will be performing a set on Friday at Lansing’s Lifted Music Festival at The Loft. (Friday, 6:00-6:45 PM.) We had a nice mention in MSU’s The State News, which is featured here. As an added treat, we’ll be joined by drummer Jim Owens and bassist Rick Wyble (from The Elevator Conspiracy). If you’ll be in the area, tickets are still available – come check it out!

Also, Matt and I just wrapped up our single for our upcoming February release as part of It Takes A Village to Make Records3-Way Singles Club. Big thanks to Deep Deep Pink for helping us out. I’ll post more information here as the release approaches.

January Dates

2012  is off to a great start, featuring a number of fun upcoming shows. Tomorrow (Tuesday 01.10), I’ll be starting the year as I ended 2011, performing with Mitchell & Harris and Daniel McDonald. We played a great show in Bay City on December 29 (also joined by guitarist Nate Powell, the other half of The French Henchmen), and will be doing it again tomorrow night as a quartet at the Shepherd High School Auditorium. Definitely come check it out if you’re in the mid-Michigan area.

Teag & PK also has a few upcoming shows worth mentioning. Thursday 01.12 we’ll be doing an ambient improvisatory set for the Fourth Annual (SCENE)MetroSpace Fundraiser, followed on Saturday 01.14 by a show at Lansing’s Gone Wired (joined by Stargrazer and Delicious Bass). Next week, we’ll be playing a set at The Loft’s first Lifted Music Festival, a mid-michigan jam band festival. We also have some recording planned.

Stay tuned for more updates!

MT-Headed updates

I’d like to take a moment to shamelessly plug my blog. (And since this is my website, who’ll stop me?) MT-Headed has steadily been plugging along over the last ~16 months, gradually gaining visitors and subscribers. (If you’re subscribed to this RSS feed, please hop on over to the blog feed and subscribe there also. And if you’re not subscribed to this one, here you go!) My recent post on ear protection, which I expected to receive little attention, was not only shared across the web by friends, colleagues, and strangers, but it was also plugged by Etymotic Research, Inc. This was unsolicited by me and a complete surprise:

This is the third time the blog has received such unexpected attention, and for that I’m quite thankful. (The first two instances were for my reviews of albums by PRISM Quartet and Dave Liebman, both of which were plugged by the artists via Facebook and Twitter.) Publicity aside, I’ve also begun a weekly annotated video series (“MTH-V”). And I’ve recently catalogued the “New Listen” and “MTH-V” posts here and here for ease of finding past entries, both of which are accessible from the blog’s menu.

In other news, Matt and I just got back from a great Teag & PK gig at Port Huron’s Raven Café. It’s a great establishment and it was our first visit; we hope to return soon!
