White Gold Scorpio’s ‘Halloween Island’ Now Available

Brooklyn-based White Gold Scorpio‘s Halloween Island was officially (and appropriately) released on 10.31.12. Gradually it’s become available via iTunes, Amazon, eMusic, BandCamp, CD Baby, and Spotify. I laid down some horn for “Throw Myself At You” and “Scare You Like I Do,” but I urge you to check out (and purchase) the whole album. It’s a dark “noir” rocker that’s especially great for night driving. Listening to it makes me want to trade in my Honda for a convertible…

The Fencemen Updates

Some noteworthy updates on The Fencemen front:

1. Today the band was pleasantly surprised to see Times Are Alright selected as one of 2012’s best albums on Lansing State Journal‘s website. I may have only contributed to one song on the album, but I’ve been playing with the band just about full time since April 2012. And, personal connections aside, I simply love the album and am happy to see it so well received. (You can read my rave review here.)

2. We contributed a single to Suburban Sprawl Music‘s annual holiday compilation, which can be found here for free. We recorded a Fenced-up cover of John Denver’s “Christmas for Cowboys” (written by Steve Weisberg), and it’s full of prairie-esque ethos. It’s a diverse compilation – including a number by the one and only Andy Dick – full of holiday cheer.

3. We have some shows coming up this month, with more already planned for March. Keep tabs on my itinerary for those dates and others. Furthermore, we’re busy writing and arranging new material. Keep your eyes and ears open…

Earthwork Harvest Gathering 2012

On Sunday 09.16 I’ll be performing at Earthwork Harvest Gathering 2012 in Lake City, MI. The three-day festival features a great lineup of seventy acts over four stages. I’m playing with pianist/composer Levi Taylor, a tremendous musician and friend. Also playing are drummer Chad Sturdivant, guitarist Ed Green, and bassist Jason Phelps. Levi, Ed, Chad, and myself all played together in First Flight, and I’ve had a great time meeting and rehearsing with Jason.

Our jazz/funk/fusion set will feature originals and covers, and promises to be fun. Bring your dancing shoes to the Barn Stage and 4:10 PM!
