New Borghi | Teager album ‘Shades of Bending Light’ out now

The new Borghi | Teager album is out now. We first released it on our recent East Coast tour and are now making it available to the public. From the official press release:

Shades of Bending Light is Matt Borghi & Michael Teager’s second studio recording and the follow-up to 2013’s critically-acclaimed Convocation. Recorded in one take without overdubs, Shades… shows the synthesized guitar and saxophone duo venturing deeper into their “jambient” style which brings together improvised ambient soundscapes from musical ideas created on the spot. Building upon the momentum and trajectory of Convocation and Awaken…, this album features more involved melodic and rhythmic interplay between Borghi & Teager. Fans of Tangerine Dream’s Phaedra, Vangellis’s Blade Runner soundtrack, Jeff Beck’s Blow by Blow, and Tortoise will immediately recognize these influences on Shades of Bending Light.

Purchase digitally via iTunes, Amazon, and eMusic, or physically via Kunaki or at live performances.

Ambient Music to Heal Cover DD

I’m pleased to announce that Matt and I will be included on a wonderful new album from Dave Luxton‘s ambient label Wayfarer Records. Ambient Music to Heal: An Album for Our Wounded Warriors is a compilation album featuring a wonderful lineup that we’re pleased to be a part of, also including: Boreal Taiga, Jonn SerrieByron Metcalf, Steve Roach, Dave Luxton, Jon JenkinsVic Hennegan, Robert Rich, and Jon Jenkins. Our contribution, “Cosmic Impression,” is an original piece created and recorded specifically for this release.

Aside from all of the great music, this release has a special aim and is for a noble cause. Dave Luxton is also clinical psychologist and veteran, and these particular works are meant to “provide a relaxing, therapeutic ambient music for service members and veterans suffering from [physical, mental, emotional] health-related” disorders. All profits of this release will be donated to the Wounded Warriors Project.

Anyone can listen to and enjoy this album, of course. The album will be released physically and digitally on May 17. Check back with the Wayfarer Records and Borghi | Teager websites for specific links on where to purchase the album on the release date.

Borghi & Teager on this week’s ‘Hearts of Space’!

This is another big week for Matt Borghi & yours truly, as we’re featured on this week’s transmission of Hearts of Space. The episode, titled “SAXOPHONIC,” focuses on the use of saxophone in ambient music. We’re truly humbled for a few reasons:

1. Our music has been included in the HOS roster. Between that, Echoes, and Star’s End, we’ve achieved the holy trinity of ambient music programs in the last 6 months, and we’re very thrilled! Who knew we’d be here after releasing Convocation a little over a year ago…
2. We’re the only artists with multiple tracks on “SAXOPHONIC.” That was definitely unexpected.
3. We’re in truly GREAT company for this episode, including ECM heavyweights John Surman and the one and only Jan Garbarek. Considering Matt’s and my special affection for ECM, that’s a feather in our cap. I never thought I’d see my name next to Garbarek’s on a playlist…
